Session 5 - Improving your Game

Sat 27th Aug: John Cairns wrapped up this year's series with his own unique insights into the "Extreme Chess Player"

While the other sessions focused on aspects of applying Positional Theory, John's goal was to give players hints and tips on how they can use these insights to improve their game and lift their rating.

In contrast to other sessions, John's presentation emphasised Over-the-Board play supported with a style of research where deep analysis is less important.

  • Know Yourself - understand the type of game-play that suits you best
  • Know Your Opponent - understand how your opponent prefers to play
  • Use Psychology - combine your own strengths to challenge your opponents weaknesses

No more details likely after this session. If you want to know more, challange one of the class and see how you fare.
