- 2005 Overview
- An overview of this year's Master Class series and details of the daily program. This year, the Series is working around a theme of developing Positional Play and managing your pawns. Not for the faint-hearted, but the crucial component in raising your game to Senior Standard.
- Session 1 - an Opening Book
- Sat 23rd July: Michael Waters opened this year's Series with some guidence in helping to build an Opening Book. The Opening sets the tone for the rest of the game and Michael offered insights into the implications of choosing particular openings.
- Session 2 - Isolated Queen's Pawn
- Ray Devenny helps us focus on potential weaknesses in a pawn formation; by concentrating your forces on a weakness in your opponents defences can remove a keystone allowing you to penetrate through to the King.
- Session 3 - the Pawn Lever
- Sat 30th July: Eddie Whiteside continues our study of pawn structures by examining the Pawn Lever
- Session 4 - Doubled Pawns
- Sat 20th Aug: Steve Scannell follows Ray discussing another positional weakness - Doubled Pawns.
- Session 5 - Improving your Game
- Sat 27th Aug: John Cairns wrapped up this year's series with his own unique insights into the "Extreme Chess Player"
