The Bangor Chess Club encourages the membership of children, as per article 1. (b) of its Constitution. In consequence, the following general procedures have been formulated by the Committee :-

1. Members should welcome any children who attend the Club, and be prepared to give them a game or coaching as appropriate. They should do so in such a way as to instruct and encourage them, to show patience, and not to be over-critical or to demolish them in every game.
2. Parents who wish to leave their children should be asked to have them collected in good time and while there are still a majority of adult members present, and to provide their telephone number.
3. All members should consistently display high standards of personal behaviour in the presence of children and avoid offensive language at all times.
4. If a member becomes aware of any problem or complaint connected with a child attending the Club, he or she should bring it to the attention of the President or Committee to be dealt with as appropriate.
