Ulster go it Alone
A Special General Meeting of the Ulster Chess Union decided that the Ulster Chess Union should find its own way in the Chess world, independent of the Irish Chess Union
At a Special General Meeting convened after the UCU AGM on 15th June, an over-whelming number of members decided that the UCU should begin the process of separating Ulster Chess from the Irish Chess Union and instead, affiliate with FIDE and other International chess authorities directly on behalf of Ulster chess players.
The ICU committee were formally advised of Ulster members decision prior to the ICU AGM but so far there has been no response.
