In the last club night of the year, members competed for the Henderson Trophy in a handicap speed tournament of 6 rounds. Martin Moorcroft was on great form the win the trophy outright.

The tournament was played as a 6 round Swiss of 30 minute matches. Games were handicapped based on player ratings varying from 2-18, 4-16, 6-14 and 8-12 minutes depending on the grading difference. The competition tended to favour junior players who frequently claimed wins on time against senior opposition. As the competition progressed, Swiss pairings allowed more balanced games for the points winners emphasising Martin's excellent result.
