Waterfront Hall Speedchess 2005 (Waterfront Hall, Laganside, Belfast, from 12:30 PM Sat 08-Jan-2005 to 05:30 PM Sat 08-Jan-2005)

After the success of the speedchess tournament at the Waterfront Hall in May 2004, the Ulster Chess Union is delighted to announce that the Waterfront Hall, one of Belfast's landmark buildings, will host a further event early in the New Year. The tournament is suitable for all standards of play and an accelerated draw should avoid any grading mismatches in the early rounds.

City of Belfast Championships 2005 (Belfast Boat Club, 12 Lockview Road, Belfast 9, from 09:00 AM Sat 12-Mar-2005 to 05:00 PM Sun 13-Mar-2005)

The City of Belfast Championships will be held on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March 2005 at the Belfast Boat Club, 12 Lockview Road, Belfast 9.

Ulster Championship 2005 (Belfast Boat Club, from 09:30 AM Sat 30-Apr-2005 to 05:30 PM Mon 02-May-2005)

The Ulster Senior Championship has been moved from its traditional Christmas-New Year slot to the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend (30 April-2 May 2005) and will be played at the Belfast Boat Club, 12 Lockview Road, Belfast 9. The Championship is open to players rated over 1600 or who have qualified through the Ulster Intermediate Championship. Players must be born or resident in Ulster or have a close family connection with it to be eligible to play. The winner will receive the Dr McSparran Cup for one year. Belfast Summerfest 2005 (Belfast Boat Club, from 09:00 AM Sat 11-Jun-2005 to 06:00 PM Sun 12-Jun-2005)

The Belfast Summerfest Tournament will be held on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2005 at the Belfast Boat Club, 12 Lockview Road, Belfast 9. There will be 2 sections: Arthur Cootes Memorial Cup (for players rated 1600 and over) Summerfest Challengers (for players rated under 1600 and unrated)
